View Full Version : Fantasy Football Help?
So Ive never done fantasy football before and I wanted to do it this year. So I signed up on foxsports got the players through their draft and now I have no idea what Im doing. Can someone help?
you need to find out the scoring system for your league to help you determine who to start. pay attention to what teams have byes and substitute accordingly. also pay attention to injuries and scan the free agents to pick up people as needed. i dont do a lot of trades cuz people always try to rob you blind. of course ive never won at this so you may want to disregard everything ive said. lol

I was so sure Id be good with the players I started yesterday and my QB goes down Tom Brady. I knew I shouldve traded him but his stats last year and success (minus losing the SB) drew me in. Darn.
I dont know if anyone is involved with Fantasy Football But my experiment is done. I dont choose the right players my season was demolished when Brady went down making me last in the public leauge. It just went crazy! Definintely not fun.
Sorry to hear about the luck for your fantasy team Moeflo. I lost Tom Brady AND Nate Burleson in week 1 and I have been playing fantasy football at a high level for 10 years! I am stilllllll depressed about losing Nate. He was going to be my darkhorse.
No no! Im doing good now! I actually didnt quit. After I lost Brady I picked up Matt Ryan and he did good for me I dropped a few players and added some other guys. Im on a 2-win streak and moving up in the standings. Im so excited. Haha I wasnt doing too well on defense though I had the Colts. So since theyre on a bye I picked up the Bills defense vs. St Louis. Should be good! I just need to decide some other people I want to start. Kinda hard to choose.
Alright I need some help. I have everything figured out except for my QB. Which do you think is the better pick? Matt Ryan vs. Panthers? Or David Garrard vs. Texans? Ryan has done good for me the past two weeks but I like both matchups. The indecisivness is coming into play! I cant decide. Ahhh!

With Garrards ability to move I think he has a better shot at getting in the endzone. Additionally the Texans are a bit weaker than the Panthers so you know that points will be scored. The Falcons alternatively are really a running team. Matt Ryan has completed some long passes that went for scores however I dont like counting on something like that. When they get to the redzone the Falcons run run run. That doesnt bode well for a non mobile fantasy QB. Of course if you listen to me and Im wrong Im expecting you wouldnt hold that against me.

I didnt listen. If you saw in the Jets thread I based my final decision on which QB I thought was better looking and it came down to Matt Ryan sad I know. But the person I was matched up against this week doesnt even play or something. They never switched the players and had players starting that were on their bye week. So luckily I did win this week. Phew.
I need some help again! So again I have: Matt Ryan vs. Green Bay Packers OR David Garrard vs. Pittsburgh I like Matt Ryan over Garrard this time (No not focusing on looks haha) because I just dont like Garrard against that tough Pittsburgh Defense. I believe Al Harris is out for a few weeks so that helps Matt Ryan. My WRs are set. Chris Chambers and DeSean Jackson. I have Toomer on the bench I just dont have the heart to start him. I dont want him to do good. Also I am NOT changing my TE its John Carlson . Then for my RBs I have Maurice Jones-Drew L. White and Pittman. I cant decide! On the bench I have Rhodes and Maroney. Anyone?
Well jeez my 3 game winning streak is dare I say it OVER. I was embarrassed only racking up 50 something points while the person I went up against had 120. Im 3-2! Ahhh!
Somebody? Anybody? Help? Lol I feel like Im talking to myself on this thread! But I need help again. Matt Ryan vs. Chicago? David Garrard vs. Denver? Im thinking Garrard vs. Denver because the rookie vs. Chicagos defense doesnt seem like a good matchup.
Id stick with matt ryan most the way unless garrad is going against a week def.
Whoooo! Guess who won this week?! ME! Haha. My 120 points to the guys 70. My winning streak is coming alive again :) But which QB do I drop? I have to drop one because both are on a bye this week. I want to keep Ryan but Garrard is good too. Why so hard?

You seem to like Ryan a lot so no need to stray away from your gut. If you really want to keep Garrard is there some other player you could drop? Also if you havent already decided who youre picking up for the spot start Id recommend Matt Schaub or Brad Johnson if either of them are available. If both are taken you have a pretty deep league in which case you might roll the dice on Seneca Wallace.
Thanks for the help. I actually picked up Derek Anderson there isnt really anyone great left. Guys like Tyler Thigpen haha. I dropped Maroney and some TE. I dont think Ill be winning this week. Ill be 4-3. Darn it.
Can I be happy that Im now going to be 5-2 in my league? I didnt think Id win this week but obviously made some good choices. Id rather be 1-5 in the league and the Hawks be 5-2 right now.

I got so lucky this week. Went with my gut and chose Matt Ryan which was a GOOD decision. MR. CARLSON did me some wonders because my WRs didnt fair too well. I shouldve put Toomer in but didnt. Darn. BUT. . . I HAVE CLINCHED A PLAYOFF SPOT! First year doing this who wouldve known. Sitting pretty with a 8-5 record. Now I have to win the last four I want an 11-5 record. I dont even know why Im so excited I dont benefit from this silly game.

Congradulations! Im sitting at 7-5-1 myself (stupid tie) so I havent clinched yet but I need to either win this week or have one of two teams lose to get in. Who do you like at running back this week between Michael Turner Steve Slaton and Peyton Hillis? Last week I went with Hillis and Turner which seemed awesome until Monday night when Slaton went crazy on Jacksonville.
I was disappointed with Jones-Drew. That Texans defense didnt let him do anything and then he fumbles the ball. Ahh. Yeah Slaton was a beast that night. I couldnt believe it. Of those running backs I like Michael Turner. But then youre right Slaton did some damage to the Jags that night. Its had to choose because theres always someone on your roster who surprises you. Like Toomer for me. Im still mad I didnt start him. I got lucky. The guy I went against started Rivers over McNabb. Phew. But my WRs are what is killing me. Ive decided to just stick out the next few games with Matt Ryan as my QB hes the most consistent of the other two I have. But Im not sure Ill last round one of the little playoffs thing. Those guys that I go up against every week are REALLY REALLY good.
You never told me how the playoffs work! Then again I never asked. So here Im thinking its the same way the NFL Playoffs work. I thought I play 4 more games and then the playoffs begin the same way. I found out today I just won my first playoff game. Haha. CRAZY! My 103 points to his 79. I was kind of worried because my WRs didnt help me much. Chambers AND Jackson got me no points. But have no fear the Indy Defense my RBs QB Kicker and Tight End came to the rescue. Now I have to put up a good line-up for this weekend. The guy I played kicked my behind the last time we went up against each other. Literally. Im excited!

So whos still alive in their league? Im down to the semi-finals in mine. Won last week despite virtually no points from receivers (TO Brandon Marshall and Anquan Bolden).
Im done after today. Theres no way Desean Jackson will rack up around 20 points for me to win. I shouldve started Garrard and not Ryan. Otherwise I wouldve won. Darn. It was fun though!
So I dont know how the playoffs work but I swore I was out. . . But for some reason I had a game today. Odd. Anyway Im up against the #1 seed and if Ward doesnt produce as much Ill win today. :) Because Im in the lead by 10 or so points.
