Because his franchise tender is only for 1 year. Now the team can negotiate a long term deal. The player has to sign the tender before the team can negotiate a long term deal. If they do it the other way around then the team loses the franchise tag for the entirety of the contract. Does that help?

Yes it helps I was wondering the same thing. I forget all these rules. Glad hes a Seahawk and I hope they can keep him long term. Im sure hell be winning some games for us again this season. Go Hawks!!!

I like Josh Brown is a good kicker but he does get nervous a lot i think and that what causes the misses from 40+ hes got the power but sometimes just blows it .
