Two nights ago, I had the honor of being a guest at the board meeting for the northwest chapter of the MS Society. Ross, my brother, presented to the board on social media and explained the power behind it. I realized if I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis ten years ago, I wouldn’t have the powerful reach that Facebook and Twitter have brought to Team Blitz. Twenty years ago, I likely wouldn’t even be reaching out to you via email.
But I was diagnosed three years ago. In that time I’ve seen four new drugs come to market, and I’ve learned about a host of research projects that look to find the cause of the disease, stop the disease, and help repair the damage that it has done.
The MS Society works to help people like me. More so, it helps people that aren’t as fortunate as me. I speak to people at support groups that have a hard time walking, struggle with fatigue, have various parts of their body lose feeling, tingle, or even worse, lose function. While we get closer to the cure, spending time that night with the board reassures me that we have amazing people dedicated to not just minimizing symptoms, but changing people’s lives. They work hard to make sure the money we donate works even harder, spending just 18 cents of every dollar on administration and fundraising.
There are only 15 more days until Walk MS 2012 on April 15, and we’ve got some exciting ways to get involved!
This year it will be at the Hec Ed Pavillion, the basketball arena for the University of Washington. To get the logistic details you have to join the team, but I can tell you we are going to have one of the coolest spots to celebrate, hang out, and have fun before kicking off the walk.
So get involved today! It's easy, fast, and it feels great!
• Join Team Blitz on April 15th – www.BlitzTacklesMS.com – register and help me fundraise, or simply come to the Walk MS event. It’s family friendly and we have a great time!
• Donate – simply go to www.BlitzTacklesMS.com/ryan and click donate - every penny counts and there is no donation too small.
• Forward this message on to your family and friends – the connections you find will shock you!

• Need more inspiration? Watch our videos on our Team Blitz YouTube channel
Take a few minutes and you can make a huge difference.
As always, thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you on April 15th! You’ll even be able to get one of our new t-shirt designs (shown below) that we debuted at the pub crawl that raised over $11,000!

P.S. Want to join me on the field at a Seahawks game? For anyone that donates $5,000 or more, you will be able to join me as my mascot assistant at a Seahawks game in the 2012 season! Go everywhere I go throughout the whole game, from backstage, to the field, to the drum line, and be there in the action as the Seahawks score!
(Fine Print: Must be 18 years old, non-transferrable prize outside of immediate family, and $5,000 is the donation amount before company matching.)
