Prediction: Alexander will be cut on June 1st

"Everybody has information regarding Shauns contract and the cap hit that accompanies it for 2008. What everyone has been forgetting about is the June 1st rule. Teams cutting players after June 1st are allowed to amortize the remaining guaranteed portion over the following year as well.
Should Shauns be cut before June 1st Seattle pays 6.9 million against the cap this year (a net cap loss of 750k).
Should Shaun be cut after June 1st we pay 2.3M this year and 4.9 next year against the cap (saving 2.1 &amp 600k against teh cap in those respective years).
In light of this I dont see how he is brought back.
My prediction: SA is a June 1st cut.

At this point that would not suprise me at all.
There are 2 key factors:
The # of underclassmen RBs that have declared for the draft this year has brought the RB class in the draft from Ho Hum to very interesting.
And Shauns radio interview regarding salary cut/restucture. (could he have shot his self in the foot w/ that interview?)

I agree I think Shaun will restructure his contract rather then be cut.

Good points around.
Sometimes you have to go out on a limb. It doesnt take a genius to predict the Patriots will be good again next year. Ill stick with my prediction and see how it shakes out.
PS: about the dead cap room. Sure. It happens every year. This year we still had guys like Herndon and Wistrom on the payroll. I think if the guy we want is there for the taking and Shauns contract is standing in the way he could very likely be a June 1st cap casualty.

i hope youre right about the having something to prove theory but thats the same thing we said going into this year i know it wasnt all his fault (o-line injuries) but nothing in the past two seasons show me that alexander is a im going to prove it to you guy

I honestly thought he would be for reconstructing his contract because I thought he was a team guy. And because he can see himself that he isnt producing enough. When I read the comments that he says only one word comes to mind Selfish. Tom Brady a guy who DESERVES his money reconstructed his salary so that Randy Moss could be on the team. I couldnt believe what Shaun was saying. And it leaves me puzzled.

Anyway with mike coming back for one more year I think a lot of it has to do with what he thinks will work best for the run game and I have a feeling its to keep shaun. frankly Im fine with that and I agree.

If Alexander was a team guy he would restructure his contract. This would alow the the team to fix some problems and help his productivity. I like Alexander and think he had some great seasons. Bottom line he needs to produce or step a side

After all he has done for this franchise I would hate to see Shaun go but it is probably time to pass the torch on to someone else. If restructuring does not happen he will be a June 1 cut I have no doubt about it.
