    SEA Team Needs

"What players does SEA need to be able to get back to the Super Bowl or even to ""win forever""?

    SEAs
    D is not too shabby.
    Their O is shabby.
TJ is not an elite QB but should be adequate for a WCO thats in sync with a run-game and an OL that can both run &amp pass-block.

QB: CWs contract is up - not sure hes coming back. TJs contract goes another year.

If SEA is gonna continue with Bevels WCO do we need another savvy &amp accurate
QB to back him up for a year before taking over the reins (GBs M.Flynn?) or does J.Portis fill that role?
If Luck Barkley and Griffen are gone before SEA drafts do they draft K.Moore later or go yet another year with what they have?

    DL: SEAs DL
is very good at defending the run (ranks 1st) but is
    not so good
at getting pressure on the passer (ranks 19th).
    A pass-rushing specialist 3-tech for 2nd &amp 3rd and longs and a younger
and faster Leo seems needed to reduce the time our
    secondary has to cover.
Seems the QBs were facing are good enough that their QB Ratings improve when we blitz them.
Got to be able to get more pass-pressure with the front 4.

CB: Is Trufant ever gonna be healthy again?
    W.Thurmond? Are
    our starting and backup secondary
    youngsters
savvy enough to recognize and stay with at least the NFCW receivers?
Experience should improve SEAs pass D (ranks 20th).

RB: Is M.Lynch a free agent in 12 or 13?
If its 12 SEA probably needs another pounder-type RB.
When Lynch is injured SEA needs a comparable replacement for him anyway.
    Is Forsett coming back?

    STs:
    SEAs STs ranks 28th.
Kicking is average but coverage has been awful.
With so many starters out the backups (coverage players) are starting and are either not available for playing on the coverage team or are not getting enough practice.

Also the return team blockers are getting lotsa penalties and arent opening lanes much for LW to get the kinda returns hes capable of.
Were wasting talent there if they (STs) cant block better on returns.

    Re: SEA Team Needs

" I dont think TJ or CW are the answer at QB.
The OL is a very young work in progress.
The only real ""veteran"" is Gallery and he is now 31 with 8 years in the league.
Savvy enough the last 3 - 4 more years as the versatile back up.
I dont know much about Portis other than he was signed as a free agent but I am inclined to think that there are several good QBs who will be available when Seattle drafts.
The only problem there is how quickly does a drafted QB get plugged in as the starter. Very good analysis regarding the D.
    Trufant is done.
I think his season ending injury is a career ending injury.
    Thurmond will be back.
The rest of the secondary is big strong fast and very young and like the OL will continue to improve with age.RB is always a question and a need for just about every team.
Most people seem to think a back who can run for 100 yards every game and catch 8 passes for another 100 is essential.
I would prefer to see a Lynch type back (or 2) with a smaller quicker back as a compliment. My limited experience re ST coverage tells me the biggest problem is folks not staying in their lanes on coverage.
That is very simplistic but if you watch the top coverage STs they stay in their lanes and dont let the return get outside. "

    Re: SEA Team Needs

Seattle has good receivers and tight ends (itll be nice if they can all stay healthy at the same time).
I think the o-line is pretty much set too young and inexperienced but they will get there.
Oh about the tight ends they are a good group but Anthony McCoy needs to go.<div>
</div><div>We definitely need a qb and that will definitely be had in the upcoming draft.</div><div>
</div><div>As far as defense I like our secondary especially if Sherman turns out to be what he was against the bengals on a consistent basis.
(we picked him up from that pick we got for Josh Wilson so it would be nice to see him do well).
I like Browner as well he needs to cut back on the penalties though.
    </div><div>
</div><div>The D-line is solid but we could use another pass rusher for sure (can you have enough of them?)</div><div>
</div><div>Our linebackers are good as well not the best in the league but definitely not a need.
If Wright continues to pan out then we are good there.</div><div>
</div><div>On the Trufant note Im not sure his career is over but his career as a Seahawk probably is especially if Sherman plays well.</div><div>
</div><div>I think what we really need are some good special teamers that is probably one of the glaring weakness of the Seahawks right now.
We need better blockers in the return game and better tacklers in the kicking game.</div>

    Re: SEA Team Needs

Ive been looking at ProFootballFocus (PFF) premium stats and they say our OL is not blocking very well.
At pass blocking PFF sez AZ is currently
ranked as the worst OL in the league and SEA is 2nd worst.
At run blocking PFF has SEAs OL ranked 22nd.
Meanwhile Football Outsiders (FO) ranks SEAs OL
    at 31st in run-blocking and 28th in pass-pro.

Individually SEAs OLers are ranked (by PFF for overall performance):
    of 73 OTs: R.Okung ranks 53rd J.Carpenter ranks 58th
    of 72 OGs: P.Mcquistan ranks 22nd R.Gallery ranks 47th and J.Moffitt ranks 71st
    of 36 Cs: M.Unger ranks 9th

    PC sez
    SEAs OL is
improving weekly that they are getting there.
I know it often takes years for OLs to gel but
    the SEA OLs
improvement is very spotty at best.
Maybe a TC and OTAs would help for next season but really how much can they improve?
Well need a replacement for Gallery at LG ASAP to help the OL gel as a unit quicker.
6th yr McQuistan has played lots better than Gallery.
    Also whats wrong with Moffitt?
Hes not performing well at RG per PFF (67th of 72
at pass-blkg 70th of 72 at run blocking but 3rd of 72 at screen blocking).
In 7 games Carpenter at RT has allowed 4 sacks 6 QB hits and 15 QB pressures so far.
Hes also had 6 penalties at RT
(one was either offsetting or declined).
He also allowed 1 sack 3 hits and 2 pressures when he played LG at SF.
That wasnt that bad considering SF has the best pass-rush now in the NFL.
Maybe move Carpenter to LG and draft a RT in the 1st (if Luck Barkley and Griffin are gone by SEAs pick).

    Re: SEA Team Needs

I have noticed Unger playing well at center but didnt know he was ranked that high. The left side seems to be playing okay its the right side that every team has been bringing pressure. Carpenter always seemed to get beat or bull rushed more than Moffit.
    IMO team needs (besides QB):
DE - someone fast who can run down plays and contain RBs. Brock has been missing all year. They should look at putting Red at DT position again.
LB - athletic type player that can blitz and cover TEs. Chancellor type build.
RB - a short yardage RB.
We have Deon Butler Golden Tate and Obomanu next year. Definitely keep Doug Baldwin Rice Williams (which I dont think would be good trade bait). Of the three trade perhaps Ob and Deon (Tate which ever is better) and trade it STL and switch picks (if it gives us a chance at a top QB)? Then we can pick up another sleeper like Baldwin.

" Definitely LB. Downgrading experience for salary isnt working out this year...and we cant afford to at LB and expect our D-line to pick up the slack every year. Look what happend when RED went down. Im seeing Chanceller and Thomas making more tackles at the second level not good. Second rounder...its the position we are the thinnest. "

    Re: SEA Team Needs

    " Saw 2 blog-lists on comcast web-site today.
1st is ""5 teams that need A. Luck the most""-
were NOT on it but 9ers &amp Colts are. Huh?
2nd was ""10 NFL QBs that are worse than Tebow""-
Jackson IS on the list but ""the most talented on the list. Just makes bad decisions &amp doesnt take care of the ball"".

Methinks it all just means they
    dont
know a damn bit more than any of us do.
    LMAO.

    Re: SEA Team Needs

007 the O is the big question right now. Up until the Dallas game we had the best run defense in the league and pass defense isnt far behind. The starting 5 OL is just young. Two rookies two Sophs. Only one veteran. And he probably isnt playing his best because he is multi tasking by blocking his assignment and helping the guy next to him. We now have a running game. So they have got to be getting better. Is it where we want it to be? Not yet! But we are getting there. Do we need to draft OL? Do you ever have enough OL? Depth is the key to winning championships. This years draft will be about finishing the Offense. The question will be the priorities. QB RB WR OL? PC has a plan the Defense is young and a full year ahead of the O. Will be interesting to see how it all plays out. But unlike the whiners who are frequenting the boards these days I am looking forward to the development of this team over the next few years. Whether the QB is Luck Barkley Griffen Moore
or any of the others. If PC has this team competing for the division and in the playoffs in th next couple years those people will be eating a lot of crow.
