Kuechly at #12 is making more sense now. Really liking the defense.

Respectively, disagree NickJ. Branden Weeden is a better fit, in my opinion. However, if Peyton goes to Tennessee, let's bring Washington's favorite son back to the great northwest. Jake Locker and Weeden would make a much better qb competition than last season's Whitehurst vs. Jackson. Thank God, Whitehurst went back to San Diego.
Jake Locker would backup/train with Peyton, I don't understand the idea people propose that Locker would ever be traded away.
If we're not going after tannehill, I'd just assume wait til round 3 for a QB(the defensive stock is deep into round 2), when Cousin/Weeden/Osweiler whoever is still available.
Jake Locker isn't going to be leaving Tenn. period. They brought Hasselbeck in to mentor him, and if they get Manning, Hasselbeck will simply look for a new place to play and Manning will mentor Locker.
Scenario A- Locker battles it out with Hasselbeck to start
Scenario B- Manning starts until he gets hurt/retires and Locker takes over Aaron Rodgers style.
Scenario C- There is no scenario C
However if Manning signs with Tennessee and Seattle can't find a suitable qb, they should consider resigning Hasselbeck, that would give them time to find a qb next season. Let's face it, it's better than Jackson.
As for the topic at hand.
I really like Jason Jones and I think he will provide excellent depth/change of pace on the d-line. I really think in passing situations he can help Clemons out. I like the signing and if it doesn't pan out it's not like we broke the bank.
I think Seattle should look at adding Dontari Poe with the first pick and I agree with Cousins in the 2nd round. I have watched Cousins closely and I think he has the tools to be a good qb in the nfl and is probably Seattle's safest bet in the draft.
My response about Locker was made to bring awareness that touching base with Tenn. could prove positive although the possibility would be admittingly slim. I should've been a little clearer...my fault. I do agree that Jason Jones should fit nicely into our defensive scheme. With that said, are there any opinions concerning Dre Kirkpatrick from Alabama? He's a long, quick db that fits into Pete's cb philosophy. I can see him falling to 12. Any thoughts?
If we didn't have a lot of needs in the linebacker department, that would be nice. Looking at our ProBowl selections, DBs and Safeties seem like the least of our concerns. If Hawthorne and Hill were re-signed, or in their place we had 2+ linebackers of equal value(which is very unlikely), Kirkpatrick would be a very nice luxury to have. I'd rather have another LB, DE or sadly even an Olineman at 12, well before a CB.
Hey, we're just splitimg hairs, but Kirkpatrick is actually a safety big enough to possibly slide down into a "nickel LB". I know we had a top ten defense last year, but it's just tempting to complete that side of the ball and shut everybody down. Especially since the NFC west doesn't have an explosive offense at this time. (Peyton to San Francisco could change things)
This signing is getting less attention than it deserves. Along with Red Bryant and Brandon Mebane, J-squared will give our line a phenomenal push at the point of attack. Mario Williams would have been phenomenal, but now, we still have money to play with in free agency next year.
