David Hawthorne
He signed a 5 year deal with the Saints, thus locking him up for his prime. It's a damn shame to see a guy like him go. Seattle offered him a two year contract but apparently they rescinded it in the 11th hour. Now I definitely hope we go out and get Luke Keuchly. Good luck Hawthorne, you are going to a defense that could definitely use someone with your skills.

I am upset.

This hurts. Hawthorne was supposed to be the centerpiece of our "new" linebacker corps. Now - well, we don't have much of one, do we? I don't understand what the thought process is here.
-
I agree, losing Hawthorne is going to hurt. The team loses a veteran player, who is awesome. Now were going to have to draft Luke keuchly, a rookie who will not beable to have an immediate impact like Hawthorne because he is going to have to learn a lot. There is an old saying, you don't know what you have until you lose it.

Pro Bowler
For the first time since I can remember the Hawks have got depth at offensive line. Defensevely the squad was starting to hit on all cylinders. The addition of Flynn makes the Qb competition all the much better. With Oline it goes without saying Marshawn explodes! Adding Jason Jones "who is said to be the purest inside pass rusher " was making things look better for the D.
How do you not resign the guy that has lead your team for the last 3 seasons in tackles? Hawthorne stepped in from OLB spot to take over for Tatupu 3 years ago and he never skipped a beat. I doubt they will resign Leroi Hill , or maybe now they have to out of deperation. I'm sorry guys I put faith in what a player has done , not what he is projected to do once he gets to the NFL. A rookie to replace Heater?
The last 3rd overall selection did so great we gave him to Oakland for a 7th round pick . Really? Words can not express how disapointed with the front office I am

We'll see how much Heater got in the next 24 hours, then make a better judgement against/for the Seahawks.
Look, Aaron Curry was a bad pick. He was an OLB who didn't really rush the passer in college, while promising he could be a rusher during the combine and that it was "just the system he was in" that didn't ask him to rush the passer. So of course Mora drafted him to rush the passer anyway and "surprisingly" he didn't pan out. Phenomal workout guy though, and in college he was just able to use his superior natural ability to perform well against the college ranks. He probably should have been trained to be Tatupu's replacement (although Tatupu was/is just too smart on the field to have the position taken away from him).
INSIDE LB's drafted in the first round, like Kuechly will be, are generally are a much safer pick (if you compare the early 1st round picks to later probowler status, it's about the third best position, behind Safety and OLine). Whoever picks Kuechly will know what position he plays, which he does so phenomally, and isn't going to move him to OLB and ask him to rush the edge. I trust Carroll and company will grab at least one ILB before the third round, and he certainly is a good drafter of defense.
I do hope Leroy Hill is retained, he does his "jack of all trades" position very well.
Carroll's not been a disappointment in the draft room since he got here, don't hold Mora's season against the front office. (besides MAYBE Golden)

Hall of Famer
I would like to have seem the hawks keep Heater as well, but it also depends on the money situation. They also mentioned last year they were trying to get Malcom Smith into the line up more. Maybe this is the way that they shift up the rotation and get the young linebacker in to play. No one really thought KJ Wright would be able to hang in his position and he did well, he also filled in when Hawethorne was injured and played pretty well.

Don't give me it's too much money nonsense. Seattle has plenty of available cash last I checked and went out and got a QB for a fair price. They had the cash to make this happen, and it's a shame that it didn't.
-
yeah, i think we still have the 3rd most amount of money in the league available to spend this year at around 18.5 mil. Kind of surprising.

Hall of Famer
I didn't mean we didn't have cash to pay him. I mean maybe the Saints offered him more that was fair market value. If Seattle goes out and blows money uselessly, all of us will be on the board saying they were stupid to spend as much as they did. Does anyone know how much money the Saints offered?

This front office as done such a good job picking defensive players in the middle rounds over the last two years. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see them find replacements for both Hawthorne and Hill in the third and fourth rounds. Heck, KJ Wright was a fith rounder and Hill was a third rounder and both were great from Day one.
